I desperately need inspiration to write, and I've decided to explore outside my usual fandom (DC)
So which fandom should I write for?? (Also PLEASE leave ideas/tropes/hcs/recs in the comments or rbs!)
I don't have a pref for any genre (ship, gen, fluff, crack, angst, hurt/comfort, hurt/no comfort, anything)
The ships I'm not comfortable writing for, currently, are Lukabeth, Thalluke, Perrachel, and any Adult x Minor pairings, just so yall know
#if I write for those Nick shows it'll either be shitty crack or extreme hurt no in between#I love Cradle so much but I suck at writing Lindon#I've only watched the Tales of Arcadia show#I have no love for Victorious but I'm willing to write its fics just to shit on canon and dan shneider#percy jackon and the olympians#percy jackson#pjo hoo toa#cradle will wight#she ra and the princesses of power#trollhunters#tales of arcadia#carmen sandiego#victorious#henry danger#the thundermans#catradora#percabeth

About Prodigy and J/C
So, first off, the new season of Star Trek Prodigy is one of the most phenomenal seasons of television I've ever watched, so please proceed and watch the hell out of it so that we can perhaps get a continuation.
With that said, proceed with caution, for there are minor spoilers ahead.
.
.
Regarding what we got (or rather, didn't get) in terms of j/c shipping, I have read several opinions by several people who, apparently, feel betrayed by the promises made by the showrunners, and I hear those complaints.
However, hear me out.
First of all with regards to the actual content of the ship present in the season, I have to say that it's rendered pretty clear that, no matter the type of the relationship, these two people are one another's most important human. This is evident not only in the way others perceive Janeway's emotional attachment as detrimental to her duty as Admiral, but also in the way the characters themselves talk about one another.
For example, Janeway refers to Chakotay as her "number one", and given that she never used that term with other first officers, the phrase seems to convey something different. The hologram Janeway is all that stands between Chakotay and a possible descent to madness during his isolation. In a flashback, he even hands her the rock with the spiral pattern drawn on it, refering to her in no uncertain terms as "home". The list goes on.
But it's not just that, and the fact remains that most fans of the j/c dynamic were looking for a more outspoken romantic tension, a kiss, or a confession. And I understand the frustration that it didn't happen, however keep in mind that the second season had been written in its entirety when news of the show's cancellation hit the press, and the writers were evidently planning ahead with no intention to wrap things up this early (there's also a point to be made about writers not having to abide by the dystopian laws of modern streaming, where there is always the fear of cancellation looming over your head and interfering with the organic development of the plot, but that's another can of worms.)
One final point to be made is about the Hagemans and the nature of the work they usually do. Anyone who has ever watched their work on Tales of Arcadia will tell you they love their romantic sub plots, touching on the love lives of teens and older adults alike. Tales of arcadia is perhaps unique in how much, how delightfully, and how unpredictably it ships main and secondary characters alike, and I cannot believe the people responsible for such a colorful selection of romantic subplots would shy away from dealing with the most notable semi-canon ship to come out of nineties Trek.
The bottom line is, the show is beautiful as is. And hope is not lost on the j/c front. Romantic or not, they are canonical soulmates. And the nature of the showrunners ' previous works makes me believe that there were plans to make the ship canon further down the road.
All the more reason for the rest of us to try and secure a continuation.

I've been reading some Transformers Prime fics (despite not having watched the show just yet lol, I'm planning though!!) and I've come across some interesting crossovers with media I never expected to do a TF crossover with: My Little Pony, Tales of Arcadia, Demon Slayer, FRICKING WINNIE THE POOH??!!-I swear the last one is legit I stumbled a fic about it-, and so on.
And the ones I've read have been very cool, but like, I'm just sitting here thinking like...
Why hasn't anybody done a crossover of Generator Rex and Transformers Prime yet?????
THE POTENTIAL IT COULD BE!!!!!!
Again, forgive me if I have anything wrong about both shows (need to re-watch/start watching them), but here me out!!
-Rough Plot-
*Imagine in a mission against the Pack, Breach or like in the Ben 10/Generator Rex crossover, a rupture in time and space opens or Breach's portal is different than the other ones and sucks in Rex and Dr. Holiday (she was in battle to help out since this would take place after Black Knight took control over Providence) causing them to end up in the Transformers Prime Universe
*Team Prime are fighting against the Decepticons during a mission and it looks like the Decepticons are winning, even taking a human hostage that maybe stumbled the area (it could be Miko since she wanted to get up close to see the battle) when suddenly a portal opens up that isn't a ground/space bridge and Rex suddenly pops out of it and analyzing the battle quickly he understands the Decepticons are the bad guys and just gives a massive punch to Megatron and starts fighting the Cons, while Dr. Holiday helps out Miko to get away from the battle to safety
*The Autobots/Decepticons are just shock to like seeing a human that's capable of creating machines/technology out of his body since they never had seen that before, until they recover their senses and continue fighting, with Rex helping the Autobots, making them the winners of the fight.
*Team Prime is still in shock after what just happened but Optimus decides it's best if they invite Rex and Dr. Holiday to the base to protect them against the Decepticons since clearly they would be hunted down by them for the events.
*Somehow along the way turns out that Van Kleiss and the Pack got transported to the TFP universe too (a random rupture in space/time or in purpose with one of Breach's portals), and Van Kleiss decides to make an alliance with Megatron to get what they both want, Van Kleiss even supplying the weaknesses he knows about Rex and creating an army of Evos to assist (obviously they want to backstab each other but I think it's very clear that given who I'm talking about here lol)
*Meanwhile in Rex's universe Six would try to bring back Dr. Holiday and Rex back home with the assistance of Salazar, even if he doesn't like him that much, he's the only scientist that can help him find them (even if Salazar works with Providence but shhh lol). Dr. Holiday would try to work to get a way back home too from her side of the universe.
*I think at one point Van Kleiss would turn one of the kids (Miko, Jack or Raf) into an Evo to cause a punch in the gut for Rex/Team Prime and make it difficult to stop them.
*Blah blah blah more fights happen, Megatron and Van Kleiss are defeated, Six managed to open a portal and Rex and Dr. Holiday are back home.
-Extra Info-
*If I remember correctly Rex is able to understand Evos through his nanites, but he also understood machines if I remember correctly?? If that's true then I have this idea that Rex could be able to understand Bumblebee perfectly with the beeps and noises (which Bumblebee would almost crush Rex in a tight hug to know that another "human" besides Raf can understand him)
*I think the Decepticons would be (depending on who are we talking about specifically) a little bit creeped out at th Pack and the Evos since in the first place they don't like organics that much and then seeing this mutations of them would definitely not help out (Megatron would be like "this is gross, but it's also very useful so I take it")
*The reason I'm making Dr. Holiday be transported with Rex to TFP instead of Six is because 1) Holiday is super super cool and deserves more recognition and be in more missions 2) I think Rex could get injured quite a lot in his missions with the Autobots so Holiday being there would help him out heal better and keep track of his nanites activity. And 3) Because I think Dr. Holiday and Ratchet would get along well since I think they're very similar in a lot of things and since Holiday would be at the base in case of an emergency and to also learn about Cybertronian biology they would have the time to know each other and bond over their experiences as medics and the responsible ones of their teams, and I think Holiday could teach Ratchet some human biology in case the kids ever needed assistance.
*Miko and Rex would get along the most since they're both pretty chaotic and quite troublemakers, but Rex would also get along well with Jack and Raf since it would remind him of his friends back home.
*I think the Autobots would get quite a shock to hear all about the situation at Rex's world: from the explosion of the nanites reactor, Rex's amnesia, the Evos, Providence and stuff like that (I also think they would get worried about Rex's whole life since by the sounds of it he has been through a lot and they're right lol)
*When Six manages to come to the TFP universe the Autobots are once again quite in shock to seeing a human with such amazing skills and not even having any mutations or abilities for them! And they would also freak out about Bobo because he's a talking monkey lolol
If anyone wants to hear more about this idea or wants to contribute to it feel free to send me an ask/DM for it and I will gladly do it!! I just think this two shows would be a perfect crossover since they're dealing with living technology and stuff like that hehe.

I've been stewing this in my head ever since I laid eyes on the show's designs for Eva and Muthr, but, as a cartoon artist, I think there's two big things that are really bothering me about the designs on both a personal and a design level.
My personal grievances are probably obvious: they took away everything that made these character look really unique, and the nostalgic part of me doesn't like that-- these aren't the characters I grew up loving.
(On a different note, the fact that Eva is POC now doesn't bother me at all; in fact, I love that they're making it more diverse. I think that's wicked cool and I'd love to see more of that. I just don't think there should be a cost to that, but the apparent cost that came about was Eva and Muthr's originality. Fuckin boo.)
On a less personal, design-focused level... this ain't it. I'm no expert, not by a long shot, but I watch a lot of cartoons-- mostly 2D but with a distinct amount of 3D thrown in there-- and one thing I've really learned in that space is that a successful design, especially for a main cast, gives each character a distinct silhouette.
Something that comes to mind easily is Steven Universe. I don't care if you love it or hate it, but something it does really well is give each character a distinct design that both gives you a visual shortcut to understanding their personality and character and just knowing exactly who that is each time they come on screen. If you showed me silhouettes of the main cast of SU, no distinguishing features, just their outlines, I could tell you exactly who each character is. Same with something like The Owl House or, to name a 3D cartoon, Tales of Arcadia. Each of these shows has good and bad things, but what they really nail is distinct silhouettes for each character, and that is partially why they are successful. I try to do this myself when designing new characters; making them distinct helps myself and the audience really distinguish that character.
The new WondLa show... is not doing that. Eva and Muthr are bland. They retain nearly nothing from their original distinct designs, though I will say-- and I say this grudgingly-- show Muthr, at least, does have a distinct silhouette. However, what character can be distinguished from her silhouette is bland and soft, nothing like Muthr's original character. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, I don't know, but it doesn't sit well with me.
Eva, I think, is the worst. In her original design, she's got tons of braids and loose garments and a thin stature. She's a chaotic little girl, and you can tell from the design. If you gave me just a silhouette of her, I could tell it's Eva from the book no problem. I should, theoretically, be able to do the same with show Eva. If you'd just given me a silhouette of show Eva, I should have had a reaction along the lines of "this looks like Eva Nine, but not exactly? What's different here?" and the differences are that she's in 3D with a slightly different design, not a whole overhaul. There is nothing interesting about Eva's new design. It falls flat and bland. If I didn't know already that that was Eva Nine, I wouldn't be able to tell at all that she is Eva Nine, not just from the silhouette.
I can only hope they give her a more distinct character design once we're in the territory of Hero and Battle, especially the latter post-"purification," but I won't hold my breath. Will I still watch it? Of course; I've been waiting for this for around a decade. But will I judge Apple harshly for its design choices? Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna.

Ya girl's been SICK this week (my first time getting Covid, yaaaay), which sucked, but it did mean I finally had the time to properly binge the How to Train Your Dragon movies for the first time since The Hidden World released. I've never actually sat down and watched all three films back-to-back before, even though this was THE film franchise of my teenage years. But having finally done so, I have Thoughts™.
First movie is still arguably the best of the three, if only because it's an entirely self-contained narrative. The script is really tight and focused, and the whole thing is really well-paced. The animation actually looks way better than I remembered, but that might just be because this was my first time watching it on Blu-Ray instead of digital.
First movie also still has the best soundtrack of the three (which is saying a lot, considering John Powell was absolutely COOKING with all three movies). "Test Drive" is just too iconic to be outdone.
I really like Astrid's character arc in the first movie. I normally don't like tough-as-nails girlboss characters because they're so often one-dimensional and boring, but she works really well for me because her girboss-ness is as much a flaw as it is a strength. While she is athletic and competitive in her own nature, she's also under a lot of pressure to be a tough warrior, since that's what her society values. I love the way Hiccup brings out her softer side, how he shows her through Toothless that it's ok to be gentle, that compassion is a strength in its own right. I love the way she in turn becomes his pillar of support and comfort. Somehow I'd forgotten just how good Hiccstrid really is.
It's weird re-watching the second film as an adult, because I can still clearly remember a time when it was just the coolest thing ever. The second film was really what sold me on the series as a whole, to be honest. Like, don't get me wrong, I always loved the first one, but the second is where I really started getting into the worldbuilding and characters.
So it's weird to come back to it now and find out it's....actually the weakest of the three films (in my opinion, anyways). I can't quite put my finger on why, but the second film feels like it "drifts along" more than the other two. Like things "just happen" without as much input from the characters. Again, I'm not sure why it feels like that, because it's not like the characters aren't proactive and shaping the way the story unfolds.
None of that is to say that the second movie is bad by any stretch of the imagination. It introduces a bunch of really cool new concepts that do a great job of expanding the world and characters. It just had that weird drifty feeling to it that the other two lacked. Does anyone even know what I'm talking about here, or am I just crazy??
It's nuts how much of a touchstone "For the Dancing and the Dreaming" became in fandom culture. Ten years later, and I still see this song popping up in fics from every fandom under the sun. I think that's a testament to how beautiful Stoic and Valka's reunion was.
Unfortunately, Drago Bludvist is....not a very good villain, imo. He kinda just screams a lot, and that's it. His whole thing of imitating dragons in order to subdue them is cool, but it really needed to be backed up by a stronger personality. But it's not too much of an issue since really, his Bewilderbeast is the real obstacle for the heroes to overcome.
Now, The Hidden World is a weirdly controversial movie within the fandom. I still see people whose hatred for this film rivals that of the Tales of Arcadia fandom's hatred for Rise of the Titans. Which...I gotta admit, doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Like, I can understand not liking the bittersweet ending, but it's not as though THW went out of its way to ruin the entire series.
Looking at the series as a whole, I'd say THW feels like the most logical and organic conclusion to the series. Especially if you've read the books or seen the tie-in tv shows. I knew going into this movie that it would end with the dragons leaving--DeBlois even told us as much in an interview leading up to the film's release. And I'm okay with that.
The first movie touches on the theme of loss with Hiccup's leg. The second movie digs into that theme a bit more, with the loss of his parents (first Valka, who thankfully is found again, then Stoic). The Hidden World dives headfirst into the idea. Loss is no longer a mere consequence of the story's events, but the thematic backbone of the whole movie. And it's here that I realized the series has always been about loss, because the series has always been about growing up. You can't mature without losing something, whether it's a place, a person, or your childhood naivete.
HTTYD uses its fantastic premise to explore a painful reality of our own world, and it does so in a way that's entertaining, sincere, and encouraging. Hiccup has lost so much on his journey to adulthood, but he's also grown strong enough to be able to rise above it. He'll be okay. Toothless will be okay. And we'll all be okay too. Idk, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's my takeaway from the series, and it's definitely something that I've needed to hear more than once as I've grown up.
Grimmel is definitely a huge step up from Drago for me. He's essentially who Hiccup would have become if he'd lacked that compassion that caused him to spare Toothless in the first film. I also love his overall demeanor and presence. He's not a force of nature, or a feral war-lord. He's just a Guy who is very, very good at his job and knows it. Plus, F. Murray Abraham just has a really cool voice.
Unfortunately, as much as I like Grimmel as a villain, he's still outclassed by Viggo Grimborn from Race to the Edge.
I can't get over how insanely good the visuals are in this series. Especially the textures. Like, there's times in the first movie where the textures look so good that the actual models almost can't keep up. I can see what Toothless's scales feel like, the scratchy weave of Hiccup's tunic, the coarse fur of Stoic's cloak. HTTYD is the only series I can think of that seamlessly pulls off a "realistic" look with animation. The world feels real, without taking away from the suspension of disbelief that makes animation such a freeing medium. It's as if they came to the edge of the uncanny valley, then got into a hot air balloon and floated across without ever touching it.
Looking back, I think this was just the perfect series to be a teenager with. It's just the right blend of action, adventure, and emotion, all wrapped up in a wholesome and often heart-rending tale of a boy and his dragon growing up together. I really wish we could have more series like this.
(Edit) Also the Light Fury is my favorite dragon species in the entire series, no I will not take that back, she's super pretty and sparkly and I just want to pat her on her cute nubby head.

3Below and Wizards in Retrospect
You know, even though the Tales of Arcadia fandom generally considers 3Below the weakest out of the three series, after watching it again I gotta say, that's giving it too much discredit! In regards to pacing, humor, and atmosphere, it's got a lot more in common with Trollhunters than Wizards did, and even if it might've been a bit more on the sillier side for some people it still had the same amount of heart as Trollhunters as well - the same way I came to love the Trollhunters as a team and family unit, so did I come to love Aja, Krel, Varvatos, Stuart, and even Mother and the robot parents. Aja and Krel especially are such a precious pair of siblings, I love how they bicker and argue over silly things but always look out for one another.
The only thing I could say I didn't like about the show was Colonel Kubritz. My gosh what a stupid annoying hypocritical b*tch! None of her actions made sense and I just wanted her to die every time she was onscreen. Easily my most hated villain in the whole franchise.
As for Wizards, I was right with people in thinking the show was too fast-paced when I first watched it, and I do still wish that it'd been given more episodes. But now it's just 'cause I would have really liked to sit with the show for a bit longer! After seeing it again, I'm honestly incredibly impressed with how much they packed into it without sacrificing any of the great characterization, development, and world-building that I've come to expect from this franchise. While it is technically fast, it didn't feel like it - there was never a point where I thought "oh wait, we're doing this now?" and that might be due to me already having seen the show (though I did forget a lot of the details), but even with that I think the episodes flowed very nicely into each other. Characters were given slower moments to express themselves and their fears, and each next step of the plot was made clear and had a logic behind it. So I think the difference between a show being short and fast rather than being fast-paced is that you always know where you are with the characters and plot.
Now unlike 3Below, which could be viewed without having seen Trollhunters, Wizards doesn't have light filler episodes (which contrary to most people's complaints about them are sometimes essential in a plot-driven show), or a self-contained story, and doesn't really stand well on its own like either of its predecessors - but it didn't really need to. It's a long movie-sequel to Trollhunters focusing on a different area of the story, specifically its history and magic.
And that's cool! Sure I would have liked a third self-contained story about Douxie and new wizard characters (I know the Zoe character was originally supposed to be a deuteragonist alongside him and I do wish we could've seen more of her and tech wizardry), but the show still did a good job making him a likable protagonist, as well as give us a few new characters to love like Deya and Lancelot. The only thing I would nitpick about the show is that I'm not too big on how much of a shift there was with Morgana, who was the big final boss in Trollhunters but is now shown to be on the good side. Like, at least it could've been mentioned before that she used to be an advocate for magical creatures before she fell into dark magic.
But with that all said, my original point is just that this franchise is great. Trollhunters is still unequivocally the best but 3Below and Wizards are also really really good follow-ups. Here's hoping the movie proves to be just as good or even better!

My Top 15 Favorite Cartoons
Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir
Miraculous is truly my favorite show at the moment. Avatar may be a bitter better in terms of quality (it's next on this list) but I always have so much fun watching this show. Miraculous gets way too much criticism. It's just a fun show about two dorks in love who don't realize it because of secret identity shenanigans. This show is at it's best when it's not taking itself too seriously. My favorite episodes are Evillustrator and Simpleman. Two of the funniest episodes!
Avatar: The Last Airbender
A timeless masterpiece. Avatar is one the best shows of all time. This was my favorite show growing up. Though I like to say Miraculous is my favorite show right now because I'm actively watching that one and participating in the fandom, Avatar is probably my true favorite. I would frequently pretend to be a waterbender when I played in the pool. And this was the first TV show I watched that got me interested in the behind the scenes of what goes into making a cartoon.
Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia
For the first few episodes of Trollhuntes, I honestly wasn't that interested. I actually stopped watching for awhile with no intention of continuing. I thought this show was a bust. But then, I had a friend convince me to give it another chance. And oh boy, am I glad I did. The show ended up being incredible!! It has the perfect balance of drama, action, romance, and comedy. And all of the characters are very likeable! Which seems pretty rare (except for Merlin. He sucks. Worst character. My favorite character is Steve). The others series in the trilogy, 3Below and Wizards, are great too. But Trollhunters is definitely the best one. (The movie sucked though. Worst ending....)
The Owl House
The Owl House was cut way too short. This show had so much potential. What we got was still amazing but it had the potential to be even better had it been given the chance. But despite being cut short, it was still an amazing show! My favorite character is Amity.
Gravity Falls
Mystery is my favorite genre and I wish more cartoons would have a little mystery in their plots. It's so fun to play along with the characters and try to solve the mystery yourself. It can be really satisfying when you get it right or it can be an exciting twist if you get it wrong! Gravity Falls gave me a new interest in codes and ciphers.
Steven Universe
I didn't like Steven Universe at first. Back when season 1 was airing and it would come on tv, I changed the channel. Season 1 was a bit boring for my taste. But I exposed myself to the spoiler that Garnet was actually a fusion all along which sounded really interesting to me so I thought maybe just one time, I won't change the channel. And the episode when Peridot first started staying at their house was on and I immediately fell in love with Peridot! I watched the entire arc of Peridot learning to appreciate Earth and by the time I finished watching those episodes, I was hooked! And of course, I love the songs!! No Matter What is my favorite one.
Adventure Time
Adventure Time is such a fun and goofy show. It always makes me laugh. But what I loved the most were the scenes with Marceline & Ice King. Their relationship was such a beautiful and tragic story.
Amphibia
I love Amphibia way more than I thought I would. I first started watching Amphibia during an Owl House hiatus because I needed something new to watch while I waited and I thought I'd give this a chance. I binged the entirety of season 1 in a day. Unfortunately I fell a bit behind and I still haven't seen season 3 yet (I've heard it's a sad ending! 😨) So I need to get on that!!!
Bluey
I'm honestly so surprised by how good this show is. When I first heard about it I expected it to be really cheesy and only enjoyable to really young children. But boy was I wrong. This show tells touching and relatable stories and reminds me of a happier time. My favorite episodes are Rain and Flat Pack.
Danny Phantom
Danny Phantom's ending was a bit rushed and they kinda completely forgot about Valerie's whole arc. I was looking forward to seeing where that would go but it ended abruptly. Like, the episode immediately before the final episode set up a whole story that we just never got. But other than that, I really enjoyed Danny Phantom. I love that they let Jazz discover Danny's secret so early on instead of dragging it out. (As many shows do now.) My favorite episode was Reality Trip.
Kim Possible
Kim Possible is always a fun watch. I love all of the characters! Shego and Dr Drakken are my favorite! (They're a bit of a package deal) and Rufus is a close second. And my favorite episode is Emotion Sickness.
American Dragon: Jake Long
Something about secret identities is so appealing to me. This is like the fourth show on the list, I believe, that involves secret identities lol. This is another show that had a bit of a rushed ending in my opinion. They tried to tie up too many loose ends in two short episodes it seemed (at least The Owl House did three long episodes) But still a great show nonetheless! Sometimes when I Jake talks, I can't help but hear Zuko 🤣
Teen Titans
I loved Teen Titans as a kid! (and still now of course). We were robbed of a Starfire centered season with this show!!! When I was a kid, Starfire was favorite character (I lean more toward Raven now). But every character got an arc that lasted a whole season long, except for Starfire. I kept waiting for it to come but it never did. Not only that, but the show ended on a cliffhanger! I think that's why I hate Teen Titans Go! so much. They could have brought this show back and continued Tara's long awaited story as well as finally give Starfire her season long arc! But instead they made a goofy parody of the show... I'd still really like to see this show come back some day, for real.
Lilo and Stitch: The Series
Lilo and Stitch was probably my favorite Disney movie growing up. So, naturally, I became a fan of the series as well! I always related a lot to Lilo. And Lilo and Stitch did a few crossovers with other favorite shows of my (such as American Dragon and Kim Possible) which made the show even more fun!
Winx Club
This was my all time favorite show as a kid before Avatar came out! I was obsessed!!!!! Winx Club made me obsessed with fairies. I wanted to be a fairy so badly. I always tried to make my friends play fairies with me. I tried to get all my friends like this show just as much as I did. Unfortunately it was very underrated. Now that I've re-watched a few times after growing up, I definitely understand why. Some of the dialogue is pretty cringy and the 4Kids dub changed a bunch of stuff for no reason. Although I will always stand by the 4Kids dub being the best one.

OOOH I love those AUs! Also, yessss to almost all of shows you listed. I really liked TOH but I've never really watched any other iterations of tmnt other then Rise.
Hmmm foods... I really like cherries. Also BBQ chicken!
And I do! I draw and write. :DD
What's the back story behind your profile picture? It looks very strange and fun. Do you have any AU ideas/ head cannons you'd be willing to share with me?
-🌻
I am also a big fan of cherries and BBQ chicken!
For my profile picture, it was just a silly little meme I found on pinterest like 3 years ago and decide I would use it cause it was funny!
As for headcanons, for some reason I always hit all my favorite characters with the transgender beam. Like, Jim Hawkins from treasure planet? Bam, transgender. Jim Lake from toa? Bam, transgender. Leo from every single tmnt iteration? Bam, transgender. Zuko? You guessed it, he transed his gender. The list goes on. (Also I forgot to mention Danny Phantom, Gravity Falls, and HTTYD on the last post)
Other headcanons include:
1. All of the Rise turtles besides Mikey love taking baths/swimming cause they're all aquatic. When Mikey was little he'd throw the biggest tantrums ever during bath time while all the others were practically falling over eachother to get in the tub.
2. There had to have been times when the boys snuck out and to the surface when they were little. (Probably how they met April). There was probably a time when they got cornered by a dog or something when they were still little and it was up to Raph to protect them. This gave him a crippling fear of dogs for years until he met a really sweet pit bull. Cause just like him, people look at those kinds of dogs and immediately think "big and scary and will hurt me" but in reality they're absolute sweethearts. Now he's pretty much over his fear.
3. Billy Bones and Captain Nathaniel Flint were totally gay and in love. I will elaborate if you ask but I'll just leave it at that for now.
4. When Hakoda finally properly meets Zuko, Aang, and Toph he just automatically adopts them. They all practically have "adopt me" written in bold letters on their foreheads. He is now the proud father of 5 kids, a lemur, a sky bison, and whoever/whatever else his kids decide to bring home.
5. Now I'm just gonna talk about Tales of Arcadia ROTT for a bit. If you have not seen the show or movie, then I'm incredibly sorry about this long ass rant I'm about to go on. Feel free to skip the next 10 paragraphs.
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING FOR TOA ROTT BELOW THE CUT
In the end of TOA ROTT, Jim was not thinking clearly at all. He had just watched his best friend, one of his father figures, and so many of his other friends die. His entire world was crashing down on him, and he just wanted things to go back to normal. When he used the Chronosphere, he wasn't actually fully in control of how far back it took him. He was just desperate to go back to a time where his friends and family were safe. The sphere picked up on that, and took him way back to the very beginning before anything bad ever happened to him and his friends.
When Toby showed up, alive and 2 years younger than the one he just watched die, all he could think was that he needs to keep him safe this time. In the first timeline, he had the amulet, Claire had magic, and all of his other friends (aside from Steve and Eli) were magical creatures or warriors. Toby was just a human with a hammer. In his messed up state of mind, the only way he could think to keep Toby safe was for him to have the amulet instead. The amulet had saved Jim's life a bunch of times, so it would protect Toby if he was the trollhunter.
I think after things had calmed down, and Jim had a chance to properly think about what he had done, he would regret this decision immensely. Because being the trollhunter puts a major target on one's back. Yes, the amulet protects Toby, but it also curses him with the burden of being some great warrior and protecting an entire species. This would just crush Jim with guilt, because he knows the struggles a trollhunter goes through and he just doomed his friend to them.
Also, the past 2 years of Jim's life was essentially erased. He's 2 years younger, has none of the scars that he's gained over the past 2 years, and is basically in a body that is no longer his own. People who were his friends, his family, the day before, are now back to being enemies or have simply no idea who he is yet. Hell, he was a troll for a year, and suddenly he's back to being a scrawny 15 year old with no proof of what he's been through other than the mental scars. He's barely the same person. He has so many issues. You know he has ptsd, anxiety, and probably body issues because again, he was a troll, and now he's back to being a 15 year old human boy. (Also I headcanon him as trans so him suddenly detransitioning by 2 years would definitely fuck him up a bit.)
His mannerisms have changed, he has different habits than before, and now he has a huge variety of triggers that no one else knows about anymore. For everyone around him, it must seem like he was suddenly replaced with someone else. This causes a lot of tension and issues with people like his mom and Toby.
And Claire. For him, just yesterday they were in love, they had spent the last 2 years of their lives fighting side by side, growing as individuals together. He was probably planning on proposing to her. And now she doesn't even know who he is. Not to mention he is mentally 18 now, and she is back to being only 15/16. I feel like even though he promised her before he went back in time that he would never give up on winning her back, he would be hesitant to do so now. He would probably wait until she's older to try and pursue their relationship again, which would likely tear him apart.
And don't even get me started on everyone else. Blinky was literally his dad. And now he doesn't even know who he is. I imagine that being around Blinky again would be difficult for him. Just yesterday, Jim could call this man "dad". Now, Blinky is back to having 0 parental instincts for this kid and is probably weirded out by Jim's behavior at first. With Toby being the Trollhunter, Blinky would be more focused on him. Jim would essentially be kinda cast aside at first. I imagine he would feel like he's being abandoned again just like with James Lake Sr. Same thing with Strickler. The guy was his step dad, and now he's suddenly back to being an evil changeling who wants to kill them.
And all the little things, that to him are perfectly normal, are no longer known by anyone else. All their inside jokes have lost their meanings. And he knows personal things about people who don't even remember his name now. I imagine that there would be times where they're all hanging out, having a good time, sharing memories. He'd bring up something that to him, is a treasured memory shared by all his friends and family. Only for no one else to understand what he's talking about. He'd have to play it off, say it must have been a dream or he was just remembering things wrong, and it would kill him inside.
And everyone who hangs around him would know that something is off. Something is wrong with him. They would all pick up on the fact that something happened to him, but he never says what. For Toby and Barbara, this would be especially distressing. To them, Jim just suddenly woke up one day a completely different person and they have no idea why. And it's not like he can just admit that he's from a doomed future and has experienced unspeakable horrors.
Okay I have so much more to say on this topic but it is getting long as hell. I honestly should make this a separate post but I'm too lazy for that :/ Also so sorry again if you haven't watched TOA and have no clue what I'm talking about right now...
Anyways! More questions for you! Do you have any au/headcanons you want to share? (Literally any fandom you want to talk about). What are your top favorite colors? And what do you like to write/draw?
#I went a little overboard on the TOA stuff...#tales of arcadia#toa trollhunters#tmnt#🌻 anon#I am very much enjoying this tho!

Howdy hey, call me Skipp!
I'm relatively new to tumblr despite having an account for years. I was always a little scared of this platform, but now that I know more about how it works I've come to adore it!
I figured I should just clarify what my blog is like. This blog is far from currated! It is simply the dumping ground of my mind. This ranges from ocs, to fandoms, to random inner monologues put to text. The only truly cohesive thing about this blog would be the art. I love to do the art things and will post and repost it constantly! So the best way to navigate my blog for anything specific would be through the tags :)
With all that said, you weary travellers who are interested in my wears (fandoms), below the cut you will find a list of things that intrigue me.
Tales of Arcadia
my obsession with this series will come and go in intense waves but will never truly fade.
Percy Jackson/Rick Riordanverse
show reignited my adoration to intensities they definitely weren't before XD
Mystery Kids
I love this and all of the different possible iterations with other media as well. So much angst and fluff material too!
Secret Trio
I constantly remember and forget how much I love this au. Same as with Mystery Kids, I'm a sucker for all the different interpretations and inclusions of other media in this au.
Indie Horror Games (Sally Face, Slay the Princess, Fran Bow, etc)
This isn't, like, exclusive to horror exactly, but games of a similar vibe and nature to those are what I find myself liking the most!
Undertale/Deltarune
been a fan since it first came out and I don't think I'll ever really stop
TMNT
got into the fandom through Rise and, ever since, I have been making my way through the other shows slowly, one by one. Currently on 2003, which I've heard is collectively believed to be the best, and am very excited.
Also looking for any good Rise!Raph angst fics, so if you've got any suggestions lmk!
Flying Bark Productions (ROTTMNT, LMK, MOON GIRL)
I am an animation nerd and my current nerd obsession is everything this studio has made in the last, like, ten years! Everything they make is just so...ashsreuvbevui!
Detentionaire
I don't care if everyone else has moved on, because I haven't!
Unus Annus
Momento Mori. I'm always down to reminisce and grieve with those who were there. This channel had such a profound impact on me so I'm not sure I'll ever be able to truly forget it, but that's fine with me.
Grojband
I'm totally normal about this show that no one around me seems to even recall and have totally not made a hella angsty au about it to cope.
Fashion
Like a crow, I like pretty things. Fashion is one of those pretty things. I repost a lot of couture.
Sims
I repost a lot of cc on here not just for me, but for anyone who might find interest in it as well (it's definitely just for me).
PowerPuff Girls
While I oddly enough don't remember much of the show, I have always been pretty deep into the fandom. Been reading fics and fancomics since, like, the early 2010s and just never really left lol
Miraculous Ladybug
I can't escape this show! I love the fandom, it's great. Love all of the artists and aus and fanart, but I've fallen out of love with the show itself. I will watch every single episode, I just won't talk about it because that's not where my interest lies.
These are definitely not all of the fandoms I am or will be a part of but these are probably gonna be the ones you see the most of!

Tagged by @lethotep a while ago and completely forgot to do it because I saw it on mobile and the Tumblr app is just doodoo butter when it comes to taking care of such posts.
Favourite colour: Honestly, it changes all the time. When I was a wee child, I only swore by blue and I still like it, but I also developed really stupid eye ailments with age that make it hard for me to stare at actually blue light (like, of the colour blue; not the whole "your phone emits blue light" stuff) or even too vibrant a shade of blue on any screen — most likely in relation with the weird way my eyes interpret light in general (my glasses have a special filter specifically because I lose some sharpness in my vision purely because my unaided eyes somehow see the world dimmer than it is at all times???).
Last song: "Answer" by ATEEZ. I know nothing about them; I just added it to my Spotify playlist because it got my sleep-deprived ass dancing in the soft drinks aisle of an Asian supermarket after an anime and manga convention (they were playing it over their speakers).
Currently reading: If you're being strict about your definition of "currently reading", nothing. I've put "The Lightning Thief" (Percy Jackson) in my line of sight in an effort to force myself to start reading it once again in order to finally read the whole series but haven't opened it yet. If you count Chrome reading fanfics aloud to me, than I'm just constantly re-reading the whole "There Was Once an Avenger from Krypton" series by @darthkvznblogs and I just really can't recommend it enough. That shizz fucks so hard and it's got SO MANY fandoms — you're guaranteed to find at least a few you like in the lot and it personally made me watch so many shows (The Owl House, Gravity Falls, Tales of Arcadia,...).
Physical book: Erm. Ahem. See the answer just above this one.
Audiobook: None at the moment but my last one was "Iron Widow" by @xiranjayzhao and it was such a good time. Looking forward to when I'll be able to get "Heavenly Tyrant".
Currently watching: The Acolyte (Star Wars), Gravity Falls, 3Below (Tales of Arcadia).
Currently craving: Being left alone by everything and everyone except my boyfriend for at least 30 years to get a semblance of control over my life back.
Coffee or tea: Coffee. Love the taste, love the smell, love it ice cold, love it warm (but not hot; I've got a bit of a cat tongue as the Japanese would say), love it black, love it with lots of sugar, love it with soy milk or oat milk...
Not tagging anyone because people usually ignore my taggings anyway. x)

Okay, I'm going to be honest on this
Status Post #11126: I feel like notable Netflix animated shows such as Voltron: Legendary Defender, Tales of Arcadia, Castlevania (barring the first season since the combined runtime is roughly 90 minutes), Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters, The Dragon Prince, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Carmen Sandiego, The Hollow, Pacific Rim: The Black, the CGI reboot of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe etc would fare much better if they were under the weekly episode format than a binge watching format, though Yasuke works well under binge watching as a three-hour animated Samurai epic.
The reason why I'm saying this is that Netflix is the only one who hasn't adapted to it unlike their competitors and going with that model would get more people interested since I'm getting a bit tired of the all episodes at once model if I'm being honest.
I would be fine if the upcoming final two seasons of The Dragon Prince went with that format as I'm a bit burned out at watching them in their entirety after doing so for the first five seasons, regardless of runtime (unless it's a series of shorts that is worth binging like Star Wars: Tales) as the last time I've binge watched a show on Netflix was the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series in February and I'm just tired of watching nine episodes of a new season on the same day, hence why I watched Blue Eye Samurai in two days with four episodes per day back in January thus I'm most likely going to watch the upcoming sixth season in three days from 26-28 July (three per day since the combined runtime of the number of episodes would be 72-102 minutes) than watching all in one go on 26 July.
I'm not ruling out the possibility of binge watching another show and this is nothing to do with The Dragon Prince's quality, okay.

@lokiiied as you wish! :D
media recs under the cut, bc long post
summary: A pastry chef with the power to bring dead people back to life solves murder mysteries with his resurrected childhood sweetheart, a cynical private investigator, and a lovesick waitress.
okay, so i'm going to start here by going pretty in-depth with the ones i really strongly recommend, and then end with a bunch of rapid-fire these are either really obvious, or just here based on vibes
name: Pushing Daisies
type: tv show
additional notes: this show has a very strong, beautiful style/aesthetic. it's funny, it's sweet, it's poignant, it's one of my favourite shows of all time, and between the detectiving, talking to dead people to solve their murders, and the being helplessly in love with one's childhood bestfriend who they brought back to life thing, i strongly believe that anyone who enjoyed dbd would absolutely enjoy this too. (be warned though, it only has two seasons and leaves off without really resolving everything)
name: Wendell & Wild
type: stop motion animated movie
summary: Two scheming demon brothers, Wendell and Wild, enlist the aid of 13-year-old Kat Elliot to summon them to the Land of the Living.
additional notes: i feel like if Crystal was your favorite character, you'd especially really enjoy this. something about magically powered teenage girls with parental issues being manipulated by demons. anyways this movie is fucking wonderful and i though about a lot while watching dbd
name: The Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman (well really any of Gaiman's works [bc. obvs] but ESPECIALLY the graveyard book)
type: novel
summary: Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a perfectly normal boy. Well, he would be perfectly normal if he didn't live in a graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor the world of the dead.
additional notes: i've not actually read this book in years and years, but dbd made me really want to reread it so.
name: Wayward Guide for the Untrained Eye
type: webseries & podcast
summary: After podcast host, Artemis, and her twin brother, Paul, uncover a secret race of werewolves, they must decide who to trust and the price they’re willing to pay for a juicy story.
additional notes: one of my favorite horror-comedies ever. another thing i'm rewatching/listening to because of dbd. i highly recommend watching each episode and then listening to its corresponding podcast ep before continuing
name: Trollhunters Tales of Arcadia (the rest of the ToA franchise as well, but this is the starting point, so. i also highly recommend the Trollhunters book by Daniel Kraus and Guillermo del Toro)
type: animated series
summary: After finding a mysterious amulet, a teen and his friends pursue an unlikely destiny and set out to save two worlds.
additional notes: it's got fantasy, it's got folklore, it's got found family, it's got a small town with a lot of secrets, and it's made by Guillermo del Toro, who i could honestly put like. all of his works in this list
name: Constantine (2005)
type: movie
summary: As a suicide survivor, demon hunter John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) has literally been to hell and back -- and he knows that when he dies, he's got a one-way ticket to Satan's realm unless he can earn enough goodwill to climb God's stairway to heaven. While helping policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) investigate her identical twin's apparent suicide, Constantine becomes caught up in a supernatural plot involving both demonic and angelic forces. Based on the DC/Vertigo "Hellblazer" comics.
additional notes: i mean. just look at that summary. they're both based of dc comics and they both start with a possession and they both end with a main character being allowed to stay out of hell
name: Carnivàle
type: tv show
summary: It's the mid-1930s, and we're in the middle of the Dust Bowl, a time when sandstorms and disease were running rampant across the Great Plains. After his mother's death, teenage fugitive Ben Hawkins is picked up by a mysterious traveling carnival run by an unseen force known only as "Management." Surrounded by magic, Ben reconnects with his long-dormant supernatural powers. Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, an evangelical preacher is plagued with apocalyptic visions. What the two of them don't know is that they're set to become players in the great (and heretofore hidden) battle between Darkness and Light.
additional notes: this also only has two seasons and is left unresolved, but it's a great supernatural/dark fantasy mystery show
name: Being Human (BBC version)
type: tv show
Summary: A werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost try to live together and get along.
additional notes: that summary kinda sucks, but it's the best one i could find, so. but yeah, basically a werewolf and a vampire move into a flat together, only to find it's haunted by the ghost of the woman who previously lived and was murdered there. i never actually finished this show, but i did really enjoy what i watched
name: Resident Alien
type: tv show
summary: An alien crashes on Earth and hides in a remote Colorado mountain town. After assuming the identity of the town doctor, Harry Vanderspeigle, his nefarious mission to kill all humans is threatened when he realizes one of the townspeople, a 9-year-old boy, can see his true alien form. Harry starts off living a simple life, but things get a bit rocky when he's roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world and slowly begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his secret mission on Earth.
additional notes: might not immediately make sense, but a paranormal being who's stuck in a weird US town solving murders still fits the vibe i think
name: Dead End Paranormal Park
type: animated series
summary: Two teenagers and a talking pug work together to fight demons in a haunted amusement park. The two slowly start to grow into themselves as they face zombies, game show hosts, witches, and crushes.
additional notes: i don't really have anything to say about this one other than it's so fucking good and i need everyone to watch it
and now it's time for rapid-fire!!
The Dead Boy Detectives Omnibus by DC Comics (or just any of their comic appearances, as omnibuses are expensive and can be hard to find, i can add the list of all the comics included in the omnibus if desired)
The Devine Comedy (ESPECIALLY Inferno) by Dante Alighieri
The Nancy Drew Novels
The Hardy Boys Novels
Scooby Doo, but ESPECIALLY the Scooby Doo/DC crossovers
The Discworld by Terry Pratchett
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (movie and show)
Topper (1937)
Ghost Whisperer
Spirited Away
The Book of Life
Over the Garden Wall
Summer Camp Island
Hilda
Casper (1995)
Lady Hawke (1985)
Maurice (novel or movie)
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (again, really just Guillermo del Toro's entire filmography)
all of Neil Gaiman's work
anyways... when i said a whole list, i meant it. there's probably more that i just can't remember right now. hope you enjoy!
i have a whole list of media recommendations for dead boy detectives enjoyers if anyone wants to hear it

Wizards but Douxie wields a banjo and plays heavy country music when casting spells
If this happened, Netflix would demand a second season for the show, solely because I watched the series so many times that their viewing numbers would be off the charts and impossible to surpass.
Douxie as a character is interesting because his younger lute-playing self felt fully integrated into the time period, but Douxie as he matured embraced a modern lifestyle. In many ways, this makes sense... he continued to live in the present time period he was in. I like that because it’s a refreshing take on a wizard... wizards don’t have to be both old and awkward in the time period they’re in. They can be comfortable in the present, instead. And there’s nothing so modern-feeling and ass-kicking to today’s audiences as someone shredding an electric guitar. I get the vibe they’re going for, and let’s be clear, it worked. I love that modern musician wizard take. And I also get it: electric guitars are the descendants of ancient lutes.
But for me, if I were given the choice of writing the show and developing the character, I would be interested better balancing the fact he’s a young brain living in a modern era... with the fact he’s got those ancient memories. I know he’s more self-assured in Arcadia than Camelot, but would someone like him actually still feel that unactualized as a person as he does in the start of Wizards, given his inevitable breadth of experience? The least realistic part of the show for me, as much as I liked it. And while someone like him would still gravitate toward the coolest, newest, youthfulest instrument on the block, maybe also... he’d be more of a multi-instrumentalist. Maybe... there’s more of a blend between old and new.
Why wouldn’t we feel that “oldness” off him from time-to-time? Why wouldn’t he still have fond memories of that lute and those old songs? Why wouldn’t he pick that instrument up, remember that side of himself, and enjoy it? If he liked the lute then, he could play it now, too. The lute was modern at the time, but even if centuries have passed, it’s still a part of him. Especially given as Douxie has maaajor growing-up to do at the start of Wizards regarding his status as a wizard and his relationship with Merlin... it would make sense if he clung onto other old emotional aspects of himself, too, right?
I’d like him to hold onto lutes (or at least give him a mandolin??), keep playing those from time-to-time, both enjoying the new electric world, but also bearing fond memories for the old acoustic.
And with that, I mean. He’s had almost a millennium in this world. Chances are, he’s “updated” his musical instrument more than once. Chances are, he’s been in the USA more than a few years. Chances are, he’s a whole plethora of memories that have extended across human history. He can still be comfortable as nobody’s business in the modern world, but... why wouldn’t we see that kaleidoscope come out of him?
Even with all its historic weirdness and complications, I’d say banjo is the ultimate US American instrument of the last few hundred years. There’s a good chance of him touching it, especially since we know Douxie has a proclivity toward contemporary string instruments.
I don’t care if it’s an AU of Wizards where Douxie plays banjo, or adding headcanons on top of the current world. The banjo in its more modern performance styles is an acoustic shredding instrument, meant to be intricate and flashy and forefront to audience attention. Sounds like Douxie kicking wizard ass? Sounds like Douxie kicking wizard ass. If Douxie went beyond the rock scene, the banjo is an analogous badass of an instrument. In many ways, the sound of a banjo is a blend of old and new... it’s an instrument of both centuries of use and historic complications, and a modern instrument with a unique, technical, energetic, innovative contemporary flair. Seems like a great fit!!!
#during which the fact I've only watched Wizards once might show xD XD XD#but hopefully these thoughts are accurate enough#and come across cleanly enough#TOA Wizards#Wizards#TOA#Douxie#Hisirdoux Casperan#music#analysis#my analysis#ask#ask me#long post#Tales of Arcadia#did I get all my tags in haha?#jayalaw

Alright it's almost Hispanic Heritage month again yall. Here's a list of Animated characters that I, a Latina, cried over when I found out they were Latin American
For clarification, "Found out" means, having no previous knowledge of said characters and within the context of the show/movie they are confirmed Latin American.
(From the perspective of a Costa Rican 🇨🇷 specifically)
The entire Madgrial Family (Encanto)
The moment I saw the teaser trailer for Encanto I started crying. I was so BEYOND EXCITED to see real, true, positive beautiful Latin American representation in a Disney movie. I'm not even Colombian but seeing something like this become so popular made me so happy. Being able to fully understand "Dos Orugitas" in Spanish just hits so different, its not the same in English. It's such a beautiful step for Latin American representation, and I'm so excited to see what comes next for us. (Still holding out for my Latina Disney princess tho. And no, Elena doesn't count) I've also been told I look just like Mirabel and seeing a character that looks like me in a Disney movie just made my heart soar.
Luz Noceda (The Owl House)
Bruh a bisexual Latina with mommy issues AND she's bilingual??? She's just like me fr.
Lance McClain (V*ltron Legendary Defender)
He was my absolute favorite character in V*ltron and I will NEVER forgive them for ruining his arc and making him sad forever. He deserved a happy ending. He's NOT "just a boy from Cuba", he's so important and lovely.
Miles Morales (Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse)
I'm not a comic book reader, so Into the Spiderverse was the first time I met Miles. Finding out he was Afro Latino made me heart soar. He's a sweet boy, such a good character in the movie, and definitely deserved the Oscar. Can't wait for the sequel.
Claire Nuñez (Tales of Arcadia)
Claire is literally such a badass. She's amazing, an amazing character, her story with Jim is beautiful. Love it when she's speaks Spanish. 10/10 character (Watch Tales of Arcadia it's really good)
Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera (Ducktales 2017)
King of my heart. Wholesome dork. Voiced by Lin Manuel Miranda.
Gosalyn Mallard (Ducktales 2017)
What I literal icon. I really really REALLY hope that the rumored Darkwing Duck reboot uses the DT 2017 versions of the DW characters cause this Gosalyn is a QUEEN
Hector Nieves Aka: Hi-Five (Glitch Techs)
Glitch techs was such a cute show it deserved to keep running. Screw Nickelodeon for canceling it just as it was starting to get interesting. Anyway this dork is adorable. Bilingual gamer king.
Troy Sandoval (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts)
Hi this cutie patootie is a literal king. He and Benson are so cute together. (GO WATCH KIPO AND THE AGE OF WONDERBEASTS ON NETFLIX I PROMISE YOU'LL LOVE IT)
Honorable Mentions:
(From top to bottom, left to right. Tumblr only allows 10 images at a time so I had to combine them)
• Señor Hueso and Capitan Piel, who together make the icon Don Suave (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2018):
I literally laugh my ass off whenever I watch the episode "Hidden City Job" and they do the whole Don Suave bit. Like it's so over the top yet accurate to telenovela characters that I can't help but laugh every time. When they first introduced Capitan Piel, I instantly laughed so hard before they even translated it because they did the whole Skin and Bones bit and I just thought it was so clever. 10/10 duo I'd love to see more of them. (GO WATCH ROTTMNT PLEASE THEY NEED ALL THE SUPPORT THEY CAN GET IF THEY WANT A SEASON 3)
• Vaggie (Hazbin Hotel)
People were giving Vivziepop shit accusing her of making Vaggie the "angry Latina stereotype) and I couldn't disagree more. Vaggie is perfectly fine as a character, and I can't wait to see what they do with her in the official Hazbin Hotel series!!
• Isabella Garcia-Shapiro (Phineas and Ferb)
Phineas and Ferb was the first fandoms I was ever in, and Isabella holds such a special place in my heart. Love her to pieces
• Marco Diaz (Star vs. The Forces of Evil)
Svtfoe was also one of the first fandoms I was in, so seeing one of the leads be portrayed as Mexican made 12 year old me so happy.
• Miguel Rivera (Coco)
Coco is such a beautiful movie, and I ONLY watch it in Spanish. Miguel is such a sweet and special boy, he really brought the joy of music back into his family.
• Soos (Jesus) Alzamirano Ramirez
Gravity Falls was ALSO one of the first fandoms I was in (PnF, GF, and Svtfoe were my main 3 for a time), and finding out this loveable goof was Latino made me really happy
• Princess Elena Castillo Flores
Now she may not be an official Disney princess (she doesn't meet all the requirements to be part of the franchise) but that doesn't mean she isn't excellent representation for young children. Although the show doesn't represent one specific Latin American country/culture, the show does have bits and pieces of many different LatAm cultures, and even some indigenous inspiration here and there with all the mythology aspects. It isn't perfect, but I do still appreciate Elena's presence in Disney.
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month everyone!!!

A Witch's Tale
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10
Invasive? They thought her empathy was invasive?
Well. In that case, she had better be sure not to mention the rest of it. That part was far more invasive than just sensing others' emotions.
She was also very curious to learn just why the local "witches" were always invasive, in Cody's opinion.
Cody took a seat at Melanie's urging, and Corva belatedly remembered to respond to the introduction.
"Nice to meet you, Cody," she said with a small smile. She let the smile slide off her face as she turned to acknowledge the other with a curt, "Ducan."
All three were radiating various levels of curiosity and skepticism. They didn't believe she was actually a witch, in the local sense of the word. She held back a groan, but gave in to the impulse to pinch the bridge of her nose.
There was a very simple and obvious solution to this problem: show them some magic. Unfortunately, if Corva had the magic to spare, she wouldn't have been there in the first place. She let out a long exhale, not quite loud enough to be considered a sigh.
I'm going to regret this. I just know it. But Melanie mentioned one of her familiars was a healer, and this is the only way to really get them to believe me... all in all, not the stupidest decision I've made. Doesn't mean it's smart, though.
"You wanted a demonstration, right?" she asked. All three indicated their agreement. "Alright."
She considered what would work best as a demonstration. No shadow magic; she might not be on Arcadia, but she didn't want to risk the stigma against shadow magic and shadow mages being present here as well. It needed to be something appropriately flashy, something that couldn't be done by any charlatan with some tricks up their sleeve, but something that wouldn't take too much energy, either.
Fire, then. She was good with fire.
She cupped her hands together and breathed a spark into the space between them. She fed the spark the energy it needed to grow, and opened her hands to reveal a blue-orange flame.
That was the easy part. Now, to show off a little.
She pulled at the flames. Fire wanted to grow, to expand. She allowed it to do so in the directions she chose. Soon the flames in her hand weren't in the shape of a ball, but a bird: a miniature phoenix.
She definitely had their attention now. She gave a small smile, and tossed the flames into the air.
The phoenix rose and flew around the room once, twice, three times before coming back to land in Corva's outstretched hands. As soon as the flames touched her palms, they disappeared.
Corva cut off the stream of energy she had fed the flames and absorbed what energy she could from their return. Her knees felt distinctly wobbly, and the room was refusing to stay still. Rude. She wouldn't allow herself to wasn't going to pass out, but she definitely needed to sit down.
Corva felt wetness trickle from her nose down over her upper lip. Huh. That was strange; her little display shouldn't have been strenuous enough to burst the delicate capillaries in her nose. She licked at the nosebleed and grimaced at the salt-iron-fear taste.
"I think," she enunciated carefully, "that I really should have waited."
Her legs gave out from under her.

Melanie wasn't expecting the magic, she was hoping for it sure, but the logic was against all of Corva's words.
The show was pretty, watching the flame fly around was almost soothing somehow, that is, until the moment Corva started to bleed, making Melanie and Cody look at her while Ducan covered his nose to control himself.
"I think that I really should have waited," Corva said before falling back on the chair, clearly exhausted, being around Cody made Malanie forget that being exhausted wasn't supposed to be the norm.
"Child?" Melanie asked with a worried, calling Hannu while walking closer to Corva, "I shouldn't have pushed you this far," she added, looking at the blood, she is the adult in the situation and still, she let herself be careless, "I'll need you to stay quiet, Hannu, my angel, is almost here, I'll ask Vicent to prepare you a room, you need to rest."
